Infigo have previously delivered restaurants and bars as part of hotel refurbishment projects but it is only recently that we started delving into hospitality projects such as bars and restaurants that are not located within a hotel.

What’s the biggest difference, one would ask. The main difference would be not having to work in a live environment. Our recent hospitality projects included the Malt Shovel Taphouse (The Rocks), Jackalberry Bar and The Fenwick Balmain where the venues were shut to enable works to be completed. Unlike hotel projects, in this instance, we didn’t have to worry about site access, noise and dusty works.

Infigo has been fortunate to be involved in interesting yet challenging projects such as the above three projects which are located within heritage buildings. We were engaged by the client right from the start which included obtaining planning and authority approvals.

Key challenges included:

• Working closely with design and consultant team to ensure design complies with all relevant authority requirements (local government, heritage, Sydney Harbour Foreshore)
• Resolve construction details to ensure they comply with heritage requirements through rigorous shop drawings process and reviews
• Maintaining detailed photographic documentation of existing building fabric before and after the works are completed and that the end product complies with the approved design documentation. Definitely not short cuts there!
